A Billion People Country

Today's news that India is the only BRIC country to have improved its score is indeed good. While India has improved its score from 45 to 43, the other three have slipped down a from 57, 53 and 48 to being 66, 62 and 54 respectively. (so much for the perception that India needs to replicate China's model for growth)

Show that the 'flattening' of the wold is happening at a great pace. Even US slipped to a 6th position from the 1st that it formerly held, relinquising the leading position to Switzerland according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2006-2007 by World Economic Forum.

For India, though education, infrastructure and technology are improving, they are still quite low by international standards and have a long long way to go before we can get into the first quarter.
